Always Beginning Anew

On the and-also of being human — that two true things can sit in the same chest at once.

A list of permissions. A reminder that the contradictions inside us aren’t bugs — they’re the design.

You can grow and still grieve
You can feel low and still achieve
You can love and still let go
A goodbye can lead to a better hello

You can be lost and still have faith
You can be skeptical but still embrace
You can be sane and still lose your mind
It comes down to how you use your time

You can be angry and still forgive
You can be kind but never give
You can feel pain but still persevere
I hope it doesn’t take long for you to heal

You can have it all and still feel alone
You can be scared but leave your comfort zone
You can change and still have work to do
For we’re imperfect, always beginning anew

The grown-up version of self-knowledge isn’t picking a side. It’s getting comfortable holding two opposite things at once and not requiring them to resolve.
