I Think That's What Love Is — A Short Love Poem

A short love poem on the quiet shift that happens when someone else's joy and pain become yours too — plain, exact, and true.

A small piece. Plain and exact, the way the realization itself was.

I opened my eyes
And realized that
Your pain is mine
And so is your happiness

When I see you smile
It brightens my day
And when you cry
I’ll cry with you

Because we share
The ups and downs
The ebbs and flows
I think that’s what love is

Love rearranges what counts as mine. Your pain is now mine. Your joy is now mine. The shared circuit isn’t a bug; it’s the whole point.
