Meu Amor: A Love Poem About Home and Each Other

A love poem set over coffee — a map on the wall, the whole world to explore, and the quiet decision that the who matters more than the where.

A small narrative poem. The kind of moment you don’t realize is the whole point until later.

We didn’t sit at our usual spot
It was a brisk morning in the coffee shop

Our table seemed far from the patrons
But that’s our preference in these situations

Next to us, on the wall, was a map of the Earth
I pondered all the places that’d be worth

To explore, to live
Many places are transformative

I’d move someplace new, I thought
But without her, this life would be for naught

I wondered about where we’d go
Her wavelength was of a similar flow

She pointed “here, let’s move here, or at least pass through”
I smiled, “Meu amor, I’d go anywhere with you”

The whole world on the wall, and the only thing that mattered was sitting across the table. That’s how you know.
