Presently Dreaming: A Haiku on Living in the Now
A haiku on living in the now — three lines that fold the future into the present, and find them already touching. Read it twice.
A small one. Read it twice — once forward, once with the meaning of “now” in mind.
Presently dreaming
Looking forward to the now
I can hardly wait
Most of us spend our lives looking forward to a next moment that, when it arrives, we won’t be looking at because we’ll be looking forward to the moment after that. The poem is a small short-circuit. The thing you’re looking forward to is the moment you’re already in.
